PCSO Sethi and PCSO Alfred conducted a Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and Crime Prevention engagement stall outside Ilford Exchange between 0900hrs and 1400hrs. Throughout the engagement, officers spoke with a large number of residents, visitors and local workers, providing crime prevention advice and reassurance around issues affecting the local community. Conversations focused on personal safety, reporting concerns, safeguarding, anti-social behaviour, fraud awareness and local policing priorities. Officers also took the opportunity to promote the upcoming Ilford Town Ward Community Meeting, which is scheduled to take place on 24th October 2026 at 1000hrs at Vine Church, Ilford. Members of the public were encouraged to attend and were informed that the meeting would provide an opportunity to discuss local concerns, receive updates from the ward team and engage directly with local officers. During the event, officers engaged with a number of cyclists and provided advice regarding cycling legislation, including educating individuals that cycling on a pavement may result in a £50 Fixed Penalty Notice. Advice was also given in relation to the safe and legal use of e-bikes, with officers highlighting the importance of complying with road traffic legislation and riding responsibly within the borough. The engagement was well received by the public, with numerous residents expressing appreciation for the visible police presence and the proactive approach being taken by the ward team. Several members of the community provided positive feedback regarding local policing efforts and thanked officers for taking the time to speak with them and address their concerns. The event provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen community relationships, promote crime prevention messaging, raise awareness of VAWG initiatives and encourage continued engagement between local residents and the Safer Neighbourhood Team. Outcome: Positive engagement with members of the public, increased awareness of VAWG and crime prevention initiatives, promotion of the upcoming ward panel meeting, and reassurance provided through a visible police presence within Ilford Town Ward.
